A shrew-like long-speaking vampire , or a long-tongued leaf-bearing , or shrew- shaped leaf -bearing [1] ( Glossophaga soricina ) is a species of bats from Central and South America [2] . This species has the fastest metabolism ever recorded in mammals , similar to that in hummingbirds . Although the vampire uses 50% of its fat reserves during the day, more than 80% of the energy comes directly from simple sugar (this species feeds on nectar) without being stored in any form [3] .

A shrew-like long-speaking vampire uses the “two-touch” tactic when landing upside down on horizontal surfaces: flying up to the surface, at the very last moment deviates to the right or left, and then grabs the surface only with the fingers of the hind limbs [4] .
