Acoustic background is an independent scientific discipline that arose at the intersection of linguistics , physics and bioacoustics , studying the physical properties of a speech signal .
In the framework of this discipline, the acoustic characteristics of the sound means of the language are studied, as well as the relationship between articulation and its aerodynamic and acoustic properties. The acoustic section of phonetics is of particular importance for applications in which technical means for analyzing a speech signal are developed, and for speech technologies. Acoustic phonetics is based on a number of basic physical concepts related to the doctrine of vibrations .
Thanks to the knowledge of the general laws governing vibrations, acoustic phonetics took shape in an independent scientific discipline (mid -1940s ), which is one of the most developed sections of phonetic science. The central area of research in this discipline is the acoustic theory of speech formation , which studies the relationship between the organic phase of articulation and the acoustic result of articulation processes.
