Serdobolsky granite

Serdobolsky granite is a type of plagiogranite that was mined in the 1770-1930s in quarries on the shore and islands of the north of Lake Ladoga , not far from the city of Serdobol (now Sortavala ).

In historical sources, the term "Serdobol granite" was used in relation to any gray to black hard rocks that were mined in the vicinity of Serdobol. From the point of view of mineralogy, Serdobol granite is a rock of the “Lauwatsar-Impinemian intrusive complex of the early Proterozoic of the Northern Ladoga (1.87-1.86 billion years), represented by phases of gabbroids , diorites and quartz diorites, tonalites , plagiogranites ", often flamendered .
