Biography
From a family of hereditary doctors, from his youth he assisted his father- surgeon . He graduated from the Astrakhan Medical Institute , after his graduation he worked for two years on distribution in a rural hospital. He received his doctorate in anesthesiology in 1975 . In 1975, at the Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery. For the first time in the USSR , A.N. Bakuleva, he performed work on long-term extrapulmonary oxygenation using fluorocarbon oxygenators and on replacing the gas environment in the lungs with liquid perfluorocarbon (the so-called " liquid breathing ").
In 1979, the country's first experiments on perfusion of the heart and kidneys were carried out in the biophysics sector of the Institute of Biological Physics of the USSR Academy of Sciences , headed by F.F. Beloyartsev. In 1982, a plasma substitute with gas transport function , perfluorane, was created at this institute. After conducting experimental studies, the pharmaceutical committee of the USSR Ministry of Health in 1984 allowed the first, and in 1985, the second phase of clinical trials of perfluorane , during which material was collected on the use of perfluorane in 234 patients in 19 nosological units.
Despite the relevance of the problem and the positive results of studies, further clinical trials of perfluorane since 1985 have been banned. A big scandal erupted in the press. On December 17 of the same year, Professor Beloyartsev died after a search in his country house under circumstances not clarified until the end (according to the official version, he hanged himself).
