History

In ancient times, these places were part of the state of Shule. When in modern times these lands were conquered by the Qing empire, in 1766 a special official was appointed here. After the formation of Xinjiang Province in 1883, the Injishar Directly Commissariat (英 吉沙尔 直隶 厅) was established. After the Xinhai Revolution , in 1913, the commissariat was transformed into Yingzish County.

In April 1934, there was a battle of the Dungans with the Uighurs. The commander of the 36th Dungan division Ma [1] Zyan Chang defeated the Uyghur detachment (500 fighters) and personally killed the Uyghur emir Nur-Ahmad Jan-Bugr.
