Biography
June 28, 1938 entered the navy as a cadet .
World War II
In December 1939, he was assigned to the destroyer Wolfgang Zenker. May 1, 1940 promoted to lieutenant. He participated in the operation "Weserubing" - the invasion of Norway, during which "Wolfgang Zenker" was sunk.
After the operation was completed, he was transferred by an instructor to the naval school in Murvik In April 1942 entered the submarine fleet.
As the 1st watch officer made 2 campaigns on the submarine U-752 . On May 12, 1943 he was appointed commander of the U-978 submarine (Type VII-C), on which he made 2 campaigns (having spent 124 days at sea). It damaged only one ship with a displacement of 7176 bt , which, however, did not recover.
December 21, 1944 awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross.
After the second cruise, he led his boat to Norway, where on May 8, 1945, he surrendered to British troops.
In 1948, released. In September 1957, Pulst entered the service in the Bundeswehr (as a civilian official) and in the 60s held the post of NATO’s financial controller in Paris . In March 1983, he retired. He was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit (1980) and the American Medal "For Outstanding Civil Merit."
