Biography

Sanchez Seren was born on June 18, 1944 in the city of Quetzaltepec (department of La Libertad, Salvador). His father worked as a carpenter, and his mother worked as a saleswoman in a grocery store. The family had 12 children (El Salvador - the ninth child).

He studied at the school for boys to them. Jose Dolores Larreinaga. In 1963 he graduated from the School. Alberto Masferrera in San Salvador , having received the specialty of a teacher. He worked as a teacher in rural and urban schools. In 1965, he became one of the founders of the National Union of Teachers of El Salvador, which today is the largest association of Salvadoran teachers. In 1978, he left teaching.

Since 1968, married to Rosa Margarita Villalta. He has a son and three daughters, as well as ten grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

Social and Political Activities

In 1970 , he took part in the creation of the People's Liberation Force named after Farabundo Marti and adopted the pseudonym Leonel Gonzalez. In 1983 , after the assassination of Melida Anaya Montes and the suicide of Salvador, Caetano Carpio was included in the General Command of the Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front . From 1990 to 1992 , he participated from the front in peace talks held in the Mexican capital, Mexico City . As a result of negotiations on January 16, 1992, a peace treaty, known as the Chapultepec Accords , was signed. FNOFM has transformed into a legal political party.

In 2001-2004 Salvador Sanchez Seren served as the general coordinator of the FNOFM. In 2000-2009 He was a deputy of the Legislative Assembly . In 2006, he became the leader of the parliamentary faction of the FNOFM. In 1999 and in 2004 he ran for the post of vice president. He took this post in 2009 together with President Mauricio Funes Cartagena. This was the first time in the history of El Salvador , when the leadership of the country was headed by representatives of the left forces. Also in the years Salvador Sanchez Seren served as Minister of Education.

President El Salvador

In the second round of the 2014 presidential election, Sanchez Seren scored 50.11% [1] . On March 17, he was officially declared the new president of El Salvador until 2019. [2] The inauguration ceremony took place on June 1 and Sanchez Seren officially took office as President of El Salvador . He called for combating crime, drug trafficking, extortion and all forms of violence [3] .

In July, Sanchez Seren opened his official residence every two weeks to everyone as an art gallery. He himself is not going to use the residence during his term, as he intends to live in a private house [4] .
