He was engaged in healing with high water. According to legend, he received the book "Tai Ping Ching" directly from heaven.

He was executed by order of the commander Sun Tse ( 175 - 200 ). His execution is described in Gan Bao 's Notes on the Search for Spirits (I, 22). Also mentioned by Ge Hun (“ Baopu-tzu .” Chapter 14). One of his students, Rong Chun (Gong Chun), is credited with many Taoist texts that have not reached us.
