Pariser Tageblatt newspaper publication
In December 1933, Polyakov began publishing the only German-speaking daily anti-Hitler newspaper in Paris. The newspaper was called the Pariser Tageblatt ("Paris Daily Newspaper") [11] . The chief editor was Georg Bernhard . On June 11, 1936, the newspaper came out with an editorial, which says that Vladimir Polyakov sold the newspaper to Artur Schmoltz, the propaganda director of the German embassy in Paris, and Pariser Tageblatt would soon become an organ of the Nazi press. The editorial also reported on the newly created newspaper Pariser Tageszeitung , where Bernhard and other anti-Nazi journalists were leaving [12] [13] . Polyakov manages to issue only two more issues of the newspaper, in which he refuted Bernhard's accusations. The latest issue of Pariser Tageblatt was released on June 14, 1936 [14] [Ma 2] .
In July 1936, the actions of Polyakov were judged by the court of honor, in which many well-known Jews participated, including Heinrich Sliozberg , Vladimir Zhabotinsky , Nehemiah Finkelstein. The court of honor fully acquitted Polyakova. In response, Bernhard accused the court of bias, noting that it was composed mainly of the friends of Polyakov. In March 1937, a committee of German émigré journalists, on the contrary, considered that Bernhard acted out of good intentions, Polyakova was supported by only a small part of the committee. In April, five former employees of the newspaper appeared in front of the Paris Correctional Court, who took the mailing lists and editorial materials of the newspaper. The defendants justified their actions by fearing that the names of the refugees fell into the hands of the Nazis. Three of the five defendants were fined. In June 1937, Polyakov sued Bernhard for defamation and won - Bernhard was fined 2,000 francs and was ordered to pay 10,000 francs to Polyakov to compensate for moral damage [15] . Bernhard tried to appeal the decision to a higher court, but in 1938 he finally lost [Ma 3] . Despite the victory in court, Polyakov was ruined and his health was undermined [Ma 3] . He died on May 10, 1939 [1] .
