3proxy is a free cross-platform proxy server . The main distinguishing features are its small size (several hundred kilobytes) and portability (there are versions for x86 and x86-64 platforms and several operating systems). The program does not have a graphical interface , its configuration is done by writing a configuration file . It is possible to run the program both in console mode and in the background as a service or daemon .

Recently, some anti-virus packages incorrectly recognize 3proxy as a virus ( Trojan horse ). Antivirus developers usually motivate this by the fact that “ hackers ” without the knowledge of users sometimes install it on users' computers and use it to send spam . However, the program itself is not malicious [2] [3] .
