Story
A family lives on a small island in the Inland Sea - a mother, father and two little sons. They have no electricity, no gas, no fresh water. They grow food on their own in their garden, and carry water from a neighboring island. Every day, from morning till night, mother and father sail together or alone in a boat to a village on the shore, pick up two large buckets of water there and take them to the island, where the buckets must be lifted to the very top, where the house stands and where the vegetable gardens are. In the morning, the mother takes the eldest son to school, in the evening takes him. While the wife goes to get water, the husband water the plants in the garden. Once the wife, climbing a steep slope upward, stumbles and spills one bucket, for which the husband gives her a crack.
After harvesting, the husband and wife take a few bags for sale, and also bring it to a rich person (apparently, as a payment for renting land).
Once, the boys manage to catch a big fish for fishing. The whole family goes to the village and sells the fish. With the proceeds, they can go to a restaurant and buy food and clothing for boys.
Once, while the parents went to get water, the eldest son falls ill. Mother stays with him, father goes to the village and searches for a doctor. However, while he brings the doctor to the island, the boy is already dying. His whole school class comes to his funeral on the island. After the funeral of her son, the mother falls into hysteria and pours a bucket of water on the ground. However, then everything goes on as usual, because the living must continue to fight for life.
