Pivoev, Vasily Mikhailovich

Vasily Mikhailovich Pivev (born July 4, 1947 , the village of Rugozero , the Karelian-Finnish SSR , USSR ) is a Russian philosopher and culturologist. Doctor of Philosophy, Professor.

Biography

In 1966 he graduated from the Petrozavodsk College of Railway Transport.

In 1981, defended a PhD thesis at the Faculty of Philosophy of Leningrad State University on the subject of “Irony as an aesthetic category” (supervisor M. S. Kagan ) with a degree in aesthetics, in 1992 he defended a doctoral dissertation at the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences on the topic “Mythological consciousness as a way of mastering world ”specialty“ social philosophy ”. The academic title of professor in the Department of Philosophy was awarded in 1992.

In 1974-1976 he worked as deputy secretary of the Komsomol committee of PetrSU.

In 1976-1985, he was an instructor in the department of science and educational institutions of the Karelian Regional Committee of the CPSU .

In 1985-1995 he worked as head of the department of philosophy, associate professor, professor at the Petrozavodsk Conservatory.

Since 1995, head of the Department of Cultural Studies at Petrozavodsk University. He lectures on cultural studies (history and philosophy of culture), philosophy, aesthetics, philosophy of history, philosophy of law, history of religion, methodology of science.

Awarded the title "Honored Worker of Science of the Republic of Karelia" (1998), awarded the badge "Honorary Worker of Higher Professional Education of the Russian Federation" (2005).

Member of the board of the Ministry of Culture and Public Relations of the Republic of Karelia, head of the Karelian branch of the Russian Philosophical Society.

  • The concept of irony as an aesthetic value and form of comic attitude, characterized by a three-dimensional structure of expression, ambivalence and bi-directionality;
  • The concept of the emergence of mythological consciousness and myth in the conditions of the ancient "night" consciousness as a way of mastering the world and a means of reassuring a person regarding the prospects for his existence;
  • Axiology as the value logic of imagination and myth-making;
  • The role and place of mythology (as a system of values, expressed in symbolic form) in the history of culture;
  • A methodological approach to the history of culture, aimed at revealing in each culture a mythology expressing a system of the most important values;
  • The concept of reason as the unity of “rational” and “irrational”, the complementarity of these two paradigms in the history of philosophy, the understanding of the history of philosophy as the interaction and confrontation of two methodological programs: rationalistic and irrationalistic;
  • The interaction of "day" and "night" consciousness in culture;
  • Forecast of a change in the value paradigm at the turn of the 20th — 21st centuries;
  • Criteria for ethnic and national identity;
  • Teleology as a philosophy of the meaning of life and happiness;
  • Criteria for distinguishing the methodology of the natural, social and human sciences;
  • The rationale for distinguishing between mythology and religion.
