Sequel

Sequel [1] ( eng. Sequel [ siːkwəl ] from Lat. Sequella "continued; appendix") - a book , film or any other creative narrative, the plot being a continuation of a work [2] .

A special category of sequels is “spiritual sequels”, which are not direct sequels, but they consider the same set of concepts and ideas as the works that preceded the plot.

Prequel

Prequel [3] ( eng. Prequel , contamination of the prefix pre- (“before”) and sequel ) is a work chronologically describing events preceding an earlier initial work.

Interquel

Interquel [4] ( eng. Interquel , contamination of the prefix inter- - “between” and sequel ) is a work of art whose plot events occur between the events of previously created works. Thus, the interquel is both a sequel for one work and a prequel for another. For example, the game " Devil May Cry 4 " tells about the events between the previously released games " Devil May Cry " and " Devil May Cry 2 "

Midquel

Midquel [5] ( eng. Midquel , contamination of the prefix mid- from eng. Middle - “middle” and sequel ) - a film, book or any work of art that develops the plot of previous works on the same topic. The peculiarity of the midquel is that the events depicted in it chronologically relate to the period inside the original plot (in contrast to the sequel in which the events follow the original ones and the prequel in which they precede). For example, Bambi 2 is an animated film that shows the protagonist growing up, which is not shown in the Bambi cartoon.

Trikvel

The triquel is the continuation of the sequel, that is, the third of a series of consecutive works. For example, the film " Ocean 's Thirteen Friends " is a continuation of the films " Ocean's Eleven Friends " and " Ocean's Twelve Friends ".

The triquel differs in the sequence of design from the trilogy , which was originally created as a three-part work.

Quadricwell

The term “ quadricquel ” is also sometimes used to describe the fourth work in a series.
