Biography

James's parents worked at a research center where they were exposed to radiation. As a result, their son was born a mutant. His unusual abilities showed up early. When little James was brought for examination by a doctor, he unexpectedly bifurcated, and after a few minutes returned to normal. Parents realized that their son is a mutant. They took the boy to their farm in Texas , where no one could see him. Father made a special suit for James, which absorbed his kinetic energy and did not allow him to create doubles. Therefore, for a long time, James did not know about his abilities [2] .

When James was fifteen, his parents died in a tornado . The boy fled from the farm and wandered around the country for some time. Once he accidentally damaged his suit. This led to an unexpected release of electrical energy. James was taken to the Moira McTaggert Clinic on Muir Island. Moira taught James to control his abilities, and soon James began to help her work with mutants. After some time, Madrox was infected with a deadly virus that he received from an infected mutant. Shortly before this incident, he created his clone. All attempts to save the life of James were unsuccessful, and he died, and his clone lost his memory.

For a long time, the new Madrox tried to remember his past, but he did not succeed. The organization “Shch.I.T.” became interested in an unusual young man. SHIELD. offered him help in exchange for cooperation, and Madrox agreed. The multiplier began to work as a secret agent, using his abilities in government interests. Gradually, memory returned to him. At this time, James decided to leave Shch.I.T.a, but soon realized that this was impossible to do. To help the young man came a mutant named Destroyer. He helped Madrox escape and invited him to join the Brotherhood of Mutants. James serves the Brotherhood for some time, but then leaves them and embarks on the path of correction, and asks for the X-Factor organization ...

X-Men: Messiah Complex

In this comic, Multiplier is one of the main characters.

After the kidnapping of the child, Jamie and Rictor are summoned by Emma Frost and Cyclops, and Layla Miller is also linked to them. Cyclops wants to introduce Rictor to the Cleaners, and he wants to send Jamie to the future so that he finds out what is happening there. The announcer infiltrated the Cleaners, and James and Laila went to the Inventor for the time machine.

The inventor lets them into the house, they tell him everything about what happened and go to the time machine. Jamie multiplies himself and it turns out three Madroxes, one is sent, the second is ready, but Laila runs to him, and they move. The original Madrox wants to get them back, but the Inventor tells him that his doubles need to find out the information and commit suicide because they will never be able to return. Madrox loses consciousness and falls into a coma.

The clone of Madrox, who went with Lila, is caught by mutant hunters. Both are branded in the form of the letter “M”, as in Bishop. In the camp they are treated horribly, but later they find a still young Bishop, because he grew up in the future. They are trying to find out information about a newborn mutant. To some extent they succeed. A few days later, Laila steals a grenade from a guard and blows up a clone of Madrox because she knew that only in this way did the original Madrox come out of a coma and give all the information to the X-Men.

This is what happened when he woke up, the same letter “M” appeared on his eye. He immediately tried to provide important information, but Emma decided that he should rest and "turned off" him by the power of thought.

Other versions

Ultimate

The multiplier was one of Magneto's most dangerous and loyal servants. His clones staged terrorist attacks and armed attacks on the Javier School, Emma Frost Institute, the headquarters of the European Superhero League and Triskelion. To put an end to this, Wolverine tracked down Jamie in the Wild. It turned out that Jamie was under the control of the Siren all this time, and thought that he was only 13 years old, and 1994 was in the yard. Wolverine had to kill Jamie to prevent the attacks.

Return

In Ultimate Comics X-Men, the Scarlet Witch asks her brother, Pietro, to meet with someone in a tomb in Egypt. In the end, Pietro sees duplicates of the Multiplier and his father, Magneto. As a result, it turns out that Wolverine killed only a duplicate, and the real Madrox, along with Magneto, went to the tomb in Egypt, where he and Magneto are still located.

Abilities

Madrox is a mutant that has the ability to convert kinetic energy into its own clones . To do this, it is enough for him to hit any object, click his fingers or stamp his foot. All clones of the Multiplier have independent thinking and can produce new clones. Madrox telepathically controls his clones and, if desired, returns them to his body, the closer he is to the clone, the stronger the control. Other telepaths are able to take control of clones far enough away. Madrox may not be aware of this, but he still feels it. However, when approaching the captured clones, Madrox regains control.
