Biography
In September 1939, drafted into the Navy. He completed training on the Schleswig-Holstein training ship. In April 1940 he participated in the operation to occupy Denmark. In July 1941, transferred to the submarine fleet, served as a watch officer on a submarine U-571 , commanded by Helmut Mölman. March 1, 1942 promoted to lieutenant.
On August 5, 1943, he was appointed commander of the U-316 submarine (Type VII-C), a training submarine in the Baltic, and on May 15, 1944, the U-621 submarine, on which he made 3 campaigns (after spending a total of 52 days at sea). The main area of action of the Stuckmann was the English Channel .
On August 11, 1944 he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross.
On August 18, 1944, the Stuckmann boat was sunk by Canadian destroyers. The entire crew of 56 people died.
In total, during the hostilities, Stuckmann sank 1 vessel with a displacement of 2938 gb and damaged 2 vessels with a displacement of 11 673 gb.
