Mengjuks (Mengucheguides)

Menguchak Gazi was one of the Beys who took part in the Battle of Manzikert in 1071, some of which, subsequently, were ordered by the Seljuk Sultan Alp Arslan to capture Anatolia. Menguchak Gazi conquered Erzincan , Kemah , Divrigi and Karahisar . He died in battle. His son Ishaq, in 1118 an ode founded a beilik on this territory and named it after his father.

To protect his Beylik, Ishaq was forced to constantly fight with the Seljuks , Artukids and Danishmendids . After the death of Ishaq Bey, in 1142 his beylik was divided in two. One of his sons, Daud, became ruler in Kemakh, Erzincan, and the second, Suleiman, in Divrig.

Due to the fact that Daud Bey supported the side of Kılıç-Arslan II , he was killed by the latter’s enemy Danishmendid Yaga-basan in 1162. Fakhr ad-din Berham Shah, who replaced him, was the son-in-law of Kılıç-Arslan II. During his tenure, he turned Erzincan into a cultural and commercial center.

After the death of Behram Shah in 1218, one of his sons, Daud Shah, settled in Erzincan, and the second Mehmet in Karahisar and ruled these cities.

In 1243, Beylik was conquered by the Mongols .

After the death of Bey Suleiman, the son of Ishaq Bey, who controlled the branch in Divrigi, his son Seyfetdin Shahin Shah took his place (died in 1197). After his death, his beylik went to the Rum Sultanate .
