The name of the castle comes from the Gaelic word - druim ( Russian crest). [one]
Built in the 13th century , the castle tower is considered one of the three oldest towers in Scotland , preserved unchanged. A large wing was added in 1619 . Further changes were made during the Victorian era . [one]
In 2013, during the restoration of the watchtower, architects discovered secret rooms and a hidden passage to the main hall. [2]
The castle is currently owned by the National Trust of Scotland . The castle is open to the public during the summer months. [one]
