St. Moninne, aka Darerca, was born into the family of King Machta, whose possessions extended from Laut to Armach , and Comwi, or Coman, daughter of one of the northern kings. St. Moninne was abbess of a monastery in Killeavy , Ireland . It is believed that she received tonsure from St. Patrick . According to another legend, St. Moninna was a hermit on Mount Sliabh Gullion , where she departed to the Lord.
