Roman Šebrle ( Czech Roman Šebrle [ˈroman ˈʃɛbrlɛ] ; born November 26, 1974 , Lanscrown , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech decathlete , Olympic champion and three-time world champion (twice indoors ( heptathlon ) and once in the open arena). He became the first decathlete to overcome the line of 9,000 points, setting a new world record (9,026 points).

Sports career
Start
When Roman was six years old, he began to play football , but after a serious injury he received in 1987, he switched to athletics .
First participated in decathlon competitions in 1991 in Tiniste nad Orlici , earning 5,187 points. Under the advice of his coach, Jiří Čechak, ебebrle joined the Athletics Club in Pardubice in 1992 . While training there, he improved his personal best score to 7,642 points.
TJ Dukla Praha
The novel, starting in 1995 , served in the Czech army for two years. During the service, he joined the army sports club TJ Dukla Praha, where Jiří Wana became his coach.
In 1996, for the first time in his career , Chebrle reached 8,000 points, gaining 8,210 in competitions in Prague . The first big victory for him was the Universiade gold in 1997 in Sicily . Two years later, at the 1999 World Indoor Championships held in the Japanese Maebashi , Roman took a bronze medal. A year later, he became the silver medalist of the European Championships in the halls .
Achievements
The Roman Olympic Games in 2000 were successful for Roman, where he became the second, losing only 35 points to the winner, the Estonian decathlon Erki Nool .
In March 2001, he became the winner of the indoor indoor championship , and in May set a new world record, breaking the first andthe only decathlete to have a mark of 9,000 points. However, at the summer world championship of the same year, Sheberle finished only tenth because of an injury. In 2002, he won both European championships.
In 2004, in Athens, he became the champion of the Olympic Games , gaining 8 893 points and thus breaking the British record for Briton Daly Thompson , established in 1984 in Los Angeles . After winning the capital of Greece , the Czech Minister of Defense promoted Chebrle to the rank of major . [one]
The best results of Roman at the World Championships were the "gold" of 2007 ( in Osaka ) and silver medals of 2003 and 2005 . ( in Paris and in Helsinki ). He also excelled at world championships indoors, becoming a two-time world champion (in 2001 in Edmonton , in 2004 in Budapest ) and a three-time bronze medalist of world championships in halls (in 1999 in Maebashi, in 2003 in Birmingham and in 2006 in Moscow ) in the heptathlon .
In 2005, he won the competitions of the Semiborets at the European Indoor Championships , in 2006 for the second time he became the first among the decathletes at the European Championships , in 2007 he won the third gold award of the European Championships in the halls .
In 2008, at the Beijing Olympics, Roman took 6th place, losing to the winner, American Brian Clay , more than 500 points. At the 2009 World Cup, Chebrle was only 11, gaining 8,266 points.
Shebrle is the only decathlete who had more than 8,000 points in 40 competitions and more than 8,500 in 20 competitions (as of October 2007) [2] Roman also became the Czech best athlete five times in a row (2001-2006) [3] , and in 2004 he was selected as the best athlete in the Czech Republic.
