This is the most populated district of the United States . As of 2013 , the population was 10,017,068 people. The district center is Los Angeles .
Content
Geographical position
Los Angeles County is located on the Pacific Coast. The Los Angeles , Rio Ondo , San Gabriel and Santa Clara rivers flow through the district. On the territory of the district are the mountains of San Gabriel and Santa Monica , the Pyramids reservoir. Most of the coast lies in the Bay of Santa Monica, the district also includes the islands of San Clemente , Santa Catalina, Terminal and the Mojave Desert .
The territory of the district is 12 308 km², of which 1791 km² is covered by water.
The district is bordered by the districts of Ventura , Kern , San Bernardino and Orange .
Law and
The main institution responsible for law and order in the district is the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (Sheriff - Alex Villanueva ).
Population
The majority of the Los Angeles County population lives in the south and southwest of the county. Most of the population is concentrated in the Los Angeles River basin and the San Fernando and San Gabriel valleys.

The main branch of the economy - international trade, carried out mainly through the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, developed film and television industry, sound recording, aerospace.
Los Angeles County is traditionally associated with the entertainment industry. Most of the major film studios are located here: Paramount Pictures , Twentieth Century Fox , Sony Pictures Entertainment , Warner Bros. , Walt Disney Company , Universal Pictures in the cities of Los Angeles , Culver City , Burbank and Glendale .
Attractions
Tourists visit Hollywood , the annual Rose Parade in Pasadena , the annual Pomona County Fair, the Los Angeles Museum of Art, the Los Angeles Zoo, the Los Angeles County Natural History Museum, the Botanical Garden, the US Bank Tower , the Walt Disney Concert Hall, two racecourses and two highways for the rally in Pomona and Irvindale , as well as stretching for miles of beaches. The largest park in Los Angeles is Griffiti Park .
In the mountains, canyons and desert areas of the county, many old westerns were shot. In the mountains of San Gabriel, the Mount Wilson Observatory is open to the public.
