The 7th Russian Volleyball Championship among women was held from October 9, 1997 to April 2, 1998 . Yekaterinburg Uralochka won the championship title for the 7th time in a row.

Tournament Rules
12 teams took part in the Super League. Competitions were held in two stages - preliminary and final. First, the games of the preliminary stage on the traveling calendar in two circles took place in paired matches with the participation of 11 teams. The Uralochka Yekaterinburg (exempted from the preliminary stage) and the three best teams following the results of the preliminary stage took part in the final tournament.
For the victory, the teams received 2 points, for the loss - 1, for the failure to appear - 0. If the points were equal for two or more teams, the alignment was determined by the ratio of won and lost games in all matches. In the application for the match were allowed to declare 12 volleyball players.
