History
District History
The Three Saints Church is located in the historical district of Moscow , which was formerly called Kulishki . “ Kulishki ” ( more correctly than kulizhka ) is an old Russian word, interpreted by different sources in different ways. Among the options for values you can find a swampy, marshy place and a forest after cutting. The ancient Kulishki district was located at the confluence of the Moscow River and Yauza . Currently, this is the Solyanka district with adjacent lanes to Yauza Boulevard and the Yauza embankment and the entire territory of the former Educational Home . [one]
The terrain here was very picturesque. In the center of the district there was a hill that crossed the river Rachka (in the XVIII century it was hidden in a pipe). In the XV century, Vasily I built here his summer palace with a house church , consecrated in the name of St. Prince Vladimir , now known as the Church of St. Vladimir in Old Sadeh . On the slopes of the hill were the famous princely gardens with luxurious fruit trees. Sovereign stables were located near the gardens. A wooden church was built in the stables in the name of the holy martyrs Flora and Laurus , whom the people revered as patrons of horses. After the construction of a suburban house of the Moscow Metropolitan (in Trekhsvyatitelny Lane ) next to the stables, a house metropolitan church in the name of the Three Ecumenical Saints was added to the Church of Flora and Lavra. [2]
Temple Construction
In the XVI century, the grand-ducal estate was moved to the village of Rubtsovo-Pokrovskoye , due to the fact that the southeastern part of the White City began to be actively settled. The churches, which were previously located in the residences, became parish, and graveyards formed under them. The network of streets and lanes that existed at that time has survived to the present. The entire hill was named "Ivanovo Hill" in honor of the monastery founded here in the name of the Nativity of John the Baptist .
In 1674, a new stone church was built at the expense of parishioners. The temple building was made two-story, placing a bell tower on the corner. On the ground floor there are warm aisles - Trekhsvyatitelsky from the south and Florolavrsky from the north. The upper unheated part of the temple was consecrated in honor of the Holy Life-Giving Trinity .
The location of the church was very successful - at the top of the Ivanovo Hill. The facades of the temple were decorated with patterned platbands and portals, high porches led to the upper floor, located in a row of apse of the warm aisles ended with covered plowshares chapters . [2]
Subsequently, in the XVIII - XIX centuries, the temple building was rebuilt several times.
Soviet period
In 1927, the temple was closed, its building was transferred to the Butcher prison. Church values were taken out, the locally revered icon of the Mother of God, "Epiphany tow" , disappeared. The temple building was beheaded, and the tent of the bell tower was also demolished.
In the 1930s, the building was transferred to the NKVD . After the superstructure of the 4th floor, the temple building was turned into a communal apartment .
In the 1950s, the fence was destroyed.
In the 1960s, the building was used for the needs of various offices. At the same time, VOOPIiK began its restoration. The architect-restorer A. I. Okunev decided to recreate the original appearance of the temple. The bell tower on the corner, the chapters , the decor of the facades of the XVII century was restored. The surviving part of the second bell tower recalls the late restructuring.
Since 1987, the animated studio "Pilot" has been housed in the temple building. [2]
