Biography
Born on December 20, 1920 in the village of Uryala ( Pirkanmaa region, Finland ) in a butcher's family. In the mid-1930s he graduated from high school. He worked at a weaving factory in the city of Tampere [1] .
In 1940 he was drafted into the army and participated in the Soviet-Finnish war . Then he began to take notes about his impressions. After the end of World War II, he began to write historical novels. Published since 1947 [1] .
In 1954, the novel The Unknown Soldier , which brought him fame, was imbued with an anti-war spirit. Then Väinö Lynna wrote the trilogy “Here, Under the Northern Star” about the events of the civil war in Finland , trying to provoke the beginning of an unbiased discussion of the past country [2] .
The writer’s books were filmed, and not once. The portrait of Väinö Lynn was depicted on a bill of 20 Finnish stamps .
