This is the southernmost point in the state of Sao Paulo , near the border with the state of Parana . Area - 151 km². [1] The population of the island is 480 people. On July 3, 1962, by decision of the government, the Estadual da Ilha do Cardoso National Park was organized on the island. The island is distinguished by a huge variety of fauna and flora.
