History and description of the film
The last film by Mikhail Romm was to be called "The World Today." M. Romm did not have time to finish this work. Elem Klimov , Marlene Hutsiev and German Lavrov completed the film and called it “And yet I believe ...”
In the first part of the film, the voice of M. Romm sounds. The author, as a "peer of the century", offers to "run through" the history of the 20th century , to recall. The comment of M. Romm is interrupted after a description of two world wars, at the events of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki .
The basis of the tape is archival chronicles. The film consists of two parts of unequal duration. The second part is dedicated to the modern (at the time of making the film) world; here, in addition to the chronicle, excerpts from interviews with schoolchildren and young people in Europe are often used.
