Vahy ( Arabic: وحي - “ revelation ”) - in Islam - a hidden and quick way to send messages to the prophets directly, or through intermediaries. Such messages are a clear and unambiguous order to action.
According to the ideas of Muslims, messages ( wahy ) of Allah to the elect among people were made in various ways:
- Righteous dream: Allah sent what was desired to his prophets with a true dream. The first message of the Prophet of Islam received in this way. What he saw in a dream turned out to be in reality one to one and in reality.
- Transfer (placement) in the heart of the prophet of the message without intermediaries.
- Verbal transmission (in the form of voice) without intermediaries, without the presence of the speaker.
- Messaging through an angel . This angel could appear both in his own guise and in the guise of a person. It also happened that this man saw and heard himself. There were times when an angel transmitted a message, but he himself remained invisible. The Quran was transmitted in this last way. The mediator between Allah Almighty and the messenger Muhammad was the Archangel Jabrail (Gabriel).
When the Qur'an was sent down, Muhammad was informed of his election as a prophet. The Qur'an was sometimes sent down by one ayah , and sometimes by whole suras or parts of suras for 23 years. Very often, the verses were sent down as an answer to questions or in difficult situations. The last verse sent down is the 281st ayat of Sura 2 - Bakara, in the translation of the meaning of which it says: “And beware of the day on which you will be returned to Allah; then every soul will be paid in full for what it has acquired, and they will not be offended! ”(2: 281).
