John Shore ( October 5, 1751 - February 14, 1834 ) - British politician, Governor-General of India from 1793 to 1797.

Biography
The son of Thomas Shore, a supercargo in the service of the East India Company . He graduated from school Harrow . From 1769 he served in British India . From 1787 to 1789 he was a member of the Supreme Council.
In 1793, he became Governor-General of India and remained in that post until 1798. During his reign, he pursued a policy of non-intervention, but replaced the nabob in Oude . During the insurgency officers of the Indian army made concessions.
Baronet since 1792, Irish Baron Tayngmout since 1798. Member of the Board of Management (1807-1,828). The first president of " British and foreign biblical society ".
A close friend of Orientalist William Jones (1746-1794), in 1804, edited the memories of his life, published many of his letters.
Memory
Memories of Shore were published by his son in 1843.
In honor of Shore, a genus of tropical trees is named Shorey .
