Zaonezhsky Bay - a large bay in the north-eastern part of Lake Onega . One of the largest freshwater bays in Russia .

Located between the capes Varnavolok and Orovnavolok. The width at the entrance is 15 km. Depth up to 28 m. Surface area - 1462 km². In the northern part it passes into the Gulf of Povenets , in the southern - into the Maloe Onego bay .
Many rivers flow into the bay, the largest of which are Nemina and Pyalma .
On the bay there are settlements Kuzaranda , Vitsino and Pyalma . The coast is rugged, hilly.
There are many islands in the bay, the largest of which are Head, Megostrov, Ivantsov, Pidostrov, Sosnovets and Lonely People. In the northern part of the bay, the western Chelmuzhskaya spit separates the Chelmuzhskaya bay bay. [one]
The bay has developed fishing.
Administratively, the bay is part of the Republic of Karelia of Russia .
