Biography
Born 07/07/1950 in the city of Dnepropetrovsk ( Ukraine ). In 1973 he graduated from the Dnepropetrovsk Medical Institute , then graduate school at the Kharkov Research Institute of Neuralogy and Psychiatry. V.P. Protopopova. In 1985 he defended his thesis in psychiatry. Since 1975 , he has been working in the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Clinical Psychiatric Hospital, from 1982 to the present he is the head of the regional crisis department.
Professional Activities
Evgeny Yuriev’s professional interests include treatment of depression , social psychiatry , problems of managing psychiatric care systems, philosophical aspects of psychiatry. [one]
In 1982-83, the first suicide prevention service in Ukraine was created in the Dnipropetrovsk region, among the population of the region, including the telephone lines of Trust, an office of social and psychological assistance and a crisis department.
In the same period, in Dnepropetrovsk [2] , the All-Union Scientific and Research Suicidological Center held the first scientific and methodological meeting on the prevention of suicide in the Dnieper region and Ukraine, which was preceded by a lot of scientific work to study this problem. Yevgeny Borisovich Yuriev became the first specialist suicidologist of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Health Administration and was until 1999 . As a result of the work, it was possible to significantly reduce the number of attempts and suicides among the population.

Evgeny Borisovich was one of the founders of the Ukrainian Institute of Mental Health, the Association of Medical and Psychological Support and Reaptation of the Population in Crisis, a participant in a major international project in the field of psychiatry ( ANAP ) (Attitudes and Needs Assessment in Psychiatry Project) - First Working Conference , Sofia, November 2-5, 1998.
In 2001-2002 , he was an expert expert in the Ukrainian mental health policy group.
