Disturbed is an American rock band created in 1996 when guitarist Dan Donigan and bass player Steve Kmak hired vocalist David Dreiman [1] . The demo tape led to the signing of a contract with Giant Records , which released the band's debut studio album, The Sickness, in March 2000 . The album made it to the top 30 on the Billboard 200 American chart [2] and the Australian ARIA Charts.
[3] . Since its release, The Sickness has become four times platinum in the United States for certification by the American Association of Recording Companies (RIAA) [4] and platinum in Australia for certification by the Australian Association of Recording Companies (ARIA) [5] . Four singles were released in support of the album: “ Stupify ”, “ Voices ”, “ The Game ”, and “ Down with the Sickness ”. The last of them was most successful, becoming platinum certification RIAA [4] .

In June 2002, Disturbed released the MOL documentary, which shows moments from the lives of band members during the recording of songs and concerts, as well as several clips (both staged and concert) for compositions from their debut album. Later, MOL became platinum for ARIA certification [6] . The band released their second studio album, Believe , in September 2002. The album was headed by the American Billboard 200 [2] and the New Zealand hit parade RIANZ [7] , and also took second place in the Canadian Albums Chart [2] . Believe became double platinum according to the RIAA certification [4] and platinum according to the criteria of ARIA [8] and the Canadian Association of Recording Companies (CRIA) [9] . The first single from this album, “ Prayer ”, reached 14th place in the Canadian Singles Chart [10] and 31st in the UK Singles Chart [11] . The video for the song was shot by the brothers Greg and Colin Strauss , however, due to the fact that the clip scenes reminded of the tragic events of September 11 , many television channels refused to broadcast it [12] . The next single “ Remember ” was not able to succeed its predecessor. In February 2004, the live album Music as a Weapon II was released , recorded during a joint Disturbed tour with bands such as Chevelle , Taproot and Ünloco . The album took 148th position on the Billboard 200 [2] .
Three years after the release, Believe Disturbed released Ten Thousand Fists in September 2005 . The album achieved the same position as its predecessor: the first place on the Billboard 200 [2] and RIANZ [7] charts and placed on the second line in the Canadian Albums Chart [2] . Ten Thousand Fists became platinum in the USA [4] , Australia [13] and Canada [14] . Five songs were released from this release as singles: “ Guarded ”, “ Just Stop ”, a cover version of the song “ Land of Confusion ” by the British band Genesis , “ Stricken ” and the title track of the album. The third and fourth of them were in the top 90 Billboard Hot 100 [10] and in the top 80 UK Singles Chart [11] . "Stricken" achieved gold status in the US [4] . The fourth studio album, Indestructible , was released in June 2008 . Building on the success of his predecessors, Indestructible topped the charts of Billboard [2] , RIANZ [7] , ARIA [3] and CRIA [2] and became platinum in the USA [4] . Four singles came out in support of this album: Indestructible , Perfect Insanity , The Night and Inside the Fire , the last of which led Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks [10] , became RIAA certified gold [4] and was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category "Best Hard Rock Performance" [15] . The next studio album, Disturbed Asylum , released on August 31, 2010 , was the fourth in a row for this group topping the Billboard 200 chart [2] . Only two rock bands in history have achieved the same success: Metallica and Dave Matthews Band [16] .
