One of the highest points in the city of Vladivostok . Located at a distance of 11.1 km from the center of Vladivostok. On this hill is the largest fort of the Vladivostok fortress - Fort No. 2 (the project of strengthening the fortress of 1910), the total length of the passages of which exceeds three kilometers. Currently, several military units are located on the territory of the fort. The hill is visible from many areas of the city due to its exceptional height. In fine weather, even from remote areas such as BAM and Tikhaya, you can see the air defense radar dome.
At the southern slope of Mount Vargina is the former closed military town No. 75 Saman (now the territory has been transferred to the municipality). Also in 2010, the Sakhalin-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok gas pipeline was laid along the mountainside, and a gas distribution station was built nearby.
