The Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary is the Orthodox church of the Volokolamsk deanery of the Moscow diocese . History
The village of Brazhnikovo (the former village of Blagoveshchensk) is located on the banks of the Ruza River, next to the village of Ostashevo . Here, in 1715 , in the estate of Prince P.I. Prozorovsky, a stone Annunciation Church was built on the site of a burnt wooden church. Prince Prozorovsky was the educator of the future Emperor Peter I. He later controlled the orders of the Grand Treasury and the Grand Parish . In 1859, N.P. Shipov became the owner of the village. At the same time, a new bell tower was erected on the site of the former. [1] The side Peter and Paul and St. George chapels were abolished in the 19th century . In 1874, a warm Sophia chapel was arranged in the refectory. [2]
Divine services were held in the church until the start of World War II . After the war, the temple was severely destroyed, church values were stolen. For many years, the temple housed the production of roasting wire and felt boots.
In 2000, a parish was registered in the village of Brazhnikovo and restoration of the church began. In 2002, the first prayer service was held. Currently ( 2009 ), church services are performed on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, the restoration of the temple continues.
Active participation in the restoration of the temple is taken by the company "MCFER". Thanks to her help, the Christmas iconostasis of the temple made of gilded wood was opened by Christmas 2010 . And on Easter 2010, it is planned to consecrate a completely ready iconostasis.
