The facade of the temple was decorated with 8 columns, only three columns and a podium have survived to this day. The temple was built by Julius Caesar in 46 BC. er in appreciation of Venus ( lat. Venus Genetrix ), also the goddess of hearth and motherhood, for leading Caesar to victory at Farsala over Pompey . In the temple were statues of Caesar, Cleopatra and Venus, who was considered the mother of Aeneas and the progenitor of the Julius clan. Later, the temple was rebuilt by Domitian and rebuilt by Traian in 113.
