Biography
At an early age, Eminem moved to the same area of Detroit where Proof lived. Since then they have become best friends. Proof helped him record albums and conduct concerts. Proof is the winner of the 1999 freestyle competition. .
Base D12
It is he who is credited with the idea of creating a coalition of Detroit MCs. After some thought about the numerical strength, we settled on the number 12. The name was chosen in accordance with the concept: D12, which means “Dirty Dozen” (from the English - “dirty dozen”).
However, in all of Detroit, managed to collect only six fairly “dirty” rappers. At that time, these were Eminem, Proof, Ey-Kyu, Fuzz, Bugz, and Bizarre .
Soon it was decided that every rapper needs to get an alter ego , the embodiment of all his bad habits and indecent desires. As a result, this “double six” option gave the desired number - 12. When Eminem gained worldwide fame, he began promoting D12 by signing the group to his Shady Records label . Long before this, a decision was made between the members of the collective: whoever is the first to become people will pull the rest. Then no one thought it would be Eminem, everyone assumed that Proof would be the first.
Iron Fist Records
In 2005, Proof ventured to create his own label, Iron Fist Records, and release his second studio album, Searching for Jerry Garcia . Rappers such as Method Man , Nate Dogg , 50 Cent , Obi Triis , MC Breed and the band D12 participated in this album. Proof named the album after Grateful Dead band member Jerry Garcia . The album took 65th place on the Billboard 200 chart [1] .
Doom
Proof was killed on April 11, 2006, with four shots to the head and chest with a bouncer from a bouncer Mario Etheridge at the CCC Club on the 8 Mile Highway in Detroit after he shot and killed his cousin Mario, Keith Bender, Jr. On April 19th, the Fellowship Chapel in Detroit hosted his funeral, which was attended by many rappers.
In memory of the murdered friend, Eminem dedicated his two studio albums Relapse (2009) and Recovery (2010). He was also often mentioned in the album Revival (2017). In these albums, Proof was mentioned on the following songs: “Deja Vu”, “ Beautiful ”, “ Elevator ”, “Cinderella Man”, “Going Through Changes”, “You're Never Over”, “Walk on Water”, “Arose "," Believe ".
Filmmaking
Proof - the only member of the group D12, who starred in the movie 8 Mile , in which the main role ("Rabbit") was played by Eminem . Proof played in it a rapper with the pseudonym Lil 'Tic, who at the beginning of the film wins the freestyle battle "Rabbit", and at the end with a smile he watches how he becomes the winner of the competition.
