Giuseppe Torelli ( Italian: Giuseppe Torelli ; April 22, 1658 , Verona - February 8, 1709 , Bologna ) - Italian composer, violinist, viola player, teacher. Brother of the artist Felice Torelli .

Mostly worked in Bologna ( 1686 - 1695 , 1701 - 1709 ), as well as in Ansbach ( 1697 - 1699 ) and Vienna (1699-1701). He developed the concerto grosso genre, the most actively among the baroque composers used the trumpet, and left over 30 concerts for trumpet and orchestra.

Biography
In his youth he studied with J. Massaroti in Verona . He studied at the Bologna Philharmonic Academy with J. A. Perty (composition) and, apparently, with E. Gaibara (violin) [1] .
In 1686-1695 he served as an altist in the church chapel in Bologna. Since 1695 he played in German courts, mainly in Berlin and Ansbach, in 1701 he returned to Bologna [2] .
Among his students is Francesco Manfredini .
