Melangella (+ 590 ) - the Welsh hermit, remembrance of May 27 .
Hagiography
Saint Melangell, otherwise known as Monacella, was the daughter of the Irish or Scottish king. She went to Powys , central Wales , where she began to lead a recluse life.
According to legend, once during a hunt in the vicinity of Penanta Isgitrog (Ysgythrog), Prince Powys raised a hare. Having got through the thorns, he saw a beautiful maiden - St. Melangella - with a hare, boldly lying at the hem of her clothes. In those parts since then it is not customary to hunt hares. The prince bestowed upon her the lands on which she, according to some information, founded the women's monastery and remained her prioress for thirty-seven years. According to other sources, after the meeting of St. Melangella continued her solitary life and slept on a bare stone.
Her cancer is located in the town of Penant Melangell ( Pennant Melangell ).
