Ring road around St. Petersburg

The ring road connects all the main highways diverging from the center of St. Petersburg in the direction of Helsinki , Murmansk , Moscow , Kiev and Tallinn . The construction of the Ring Road is carried out by the Federal State Institution “Directorate for the Construction of the Transport Bypass of the City of St. Petersburg of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation” ( Rosavtodor ). Initially, funds for construction work were allocated only from the federal budget. St. Petersburg did not take part in financing, since the object is a federal road. In 2004, active construction work on the Ring Road was twice suspended due to lack of funding.

• The total surface length of the ring road is 116.75 km, and taking into account the section passing through the complex of protective structures of St. Petersburg from floods , 142.15 km ^[3] .
• The length of the eastern half ring is 66.07 km ^[3] .
• The length of the western half ring is 50.68 km ^[3] .
• The road category is IA ( motorway ) throughout.
• The number of lanes - 4-8:
  • From Primorsky sh. to Engels Ave. (25 km) - 4 lanes (expanding to 6 lanes ^[4] )
  • From Engels Ave. to Kultury Ave. (4 km) - 6 lanes
  • From Culture Ave. to Tallinn Sh. (51 km) - 8 lanes
  • From Tallinn sh. to Primorsky highway (62 km, including the GLC section - 25.4 km) - 6 lanes
• The number of road interchanges is 26 ^[3] .
• The number of bridges, overpasses, overpasses and tunnels is 106 ^[3] .
• Along the road there are places for helipads ^[5] .

Eastern half-ring

Western half-ring

• Pulkovo interchange in the area of Pulkovo-2 airport; the junction is located at the intersection of Pulkovo Highway with Startovaya Street, has three levels and 8 exits, the highway is the lowest level;
• "Interchange of the three highways." The most difficult denouement connecting the Ring Road, WHSD and the continuation of Dachny Avenue ; Of the 16 possible directions of traffic, the denouement has 15: the only impossible direction is from WHSD to Preportovaya Street . The Ring Road passes under the WHSD and Dachny Avenue.
• Interchange with service access to Pulkovo Airport, Heli Drive helicopter center .
• Interchange at the intersection of Tallinn and Volkhonskoye Highways , overpass over Tallinn Highway
• Six-lane highway.
• Interchange with the continuation of Pionerstroy street (at the first stage, “Pionerstroy street” will be only a section from the Ring Road to Volkhonskoye Highway, its connection with the current Pionerstroy Street is a matter of the more distant future);

Now public transport goes only in this part of the Ring Road - these are buses from Kronstadt:

• 101 - turns onto Gorskaya and goes to the Old Village;
• 215 - there, only leaves for Sestroretsk;
• 175 - goes to Krasnoflotskoye highway, where it leaves for Lomonosov, to Oranienbaum-1 station.

Previously, bus 148 ran from the junction with the Vyborg Highway to the junction from Engels Ave.

194 a bus runs from Komendantsky Prospekt to the Hyundai plant as part of the Ring Road.

The eastern half-ring from Gorskaya to the intersection with Moskovsky Prospect was supposed to be fully commissioned by the city’s anniversary in May 2003. ^{[8] [7]} Drive through this section became possible in 2006, and it was completely commissioned only in 2008.

• December 1984 - a temporary road was opened along the northern section of the dam under construction from Kotlin Island to the Primorsky highway near the Gorskaya station.
• 1998 - the beginning of the construction of the Ring Road around St. Petersburg ^[9] .
• Autumn 2001 - the first 24 km section was opened from Gorskaya to Aspen Grove
• December 26, 2002 - the opening of traffic on the Ring Road in the section from Aspen Grove to the traffic intersection with Engels Avenue .
• December 15, 2004 - traffic began on the Bolshoi Obukhov (cable-stayed) bridge , the only non-movable bridge over the Neva River in St. Petersburg.
• 30 августа 2005 года — введён в строй участок КАД от Московского шоссе до Большого Обуховского моста ^[10] .
• 26 декабря 2005 года — открыта развязка на пересечении с Софийской улицей . Дан старт строительству западного полукольца КАД (от Московского шоссе до железнодорожной станции Бронка ).
• 7 сентября 2006 года — завершена первая очередь работ в районе Ржевки, открыто сквозное движение от развязки в Горской до Московского шоссе.
• 19 октября 2007 года — открыта вторая очередь Большого Обуховского моста. В этот же день было открыто полноценное восьмиполосное движение в районе муринской развязки и сама развязка (доделывалась до 1 декабря 2007).
• 25 ноября 2007 года — открыт участок от Московского до Таллинского шоссе
• 23 июля 2008 года — открыта развязка в Кронштадте.
• 1 сентября 2008 года — участок от Московского шоссе и Большой Обуховский мост через Неву расширен с 4 до 8 полос ^[11] .
• 30 октября 2008 года — открыта «развязка трёх магистралей»: КАД, ЗСД и продолжения Дачного проспекта до Предпортовой улицы; также введён в эксплуатацию в полном объёме участок КАД в районе станции Ржевка.
• ноябрь 2008 года — открыто технологическое движение на участке от острова Котлин до южного побережья Финского залива ^[12]
• середина 2009 года — открыто полноценное 6-полосное движение по северному участку дамбы.
• май 2010 года — на КАДе в режиме тестовой эксплуатации запущены несколько табло АСУДД .
• октябрь 2010 года — открыт съезд на Горское шоссе и к заводу «Hyundai», элемент будущей развязки с северным участком ЗСД.
• 24 ноября 2010 года открыто движение от Таллинского шоссе до Краснофлотского в районе ж/д станции Бронка ^{[13] [14]} .
• 23 декабря 2010 года — в полном объёме открыта развязка с Пискарёвским проспектом, а также частично — развязка с Комендантским проспектом (который в настоящее время имеет разрыв, а присоединение к дорожной сети осуществляется через Парашютную улицу).
• 2 августа 2011 года — открыта развязка с продолжением Ораниенбаумского проспекта.
• 12 августа 2011 года — открыто движение по подводному тоннелю комплекса защитных сооружений от Бронки до Кронштадта . Начало движения по Кольцевой автодороге в полном объёме ^[15] .
• 29 декабря 2011 года — развязка с продолжением Комендантского проспекта открыта в полном объёме.
• 3 августа 2013 года — развязка с северным участком ЗСД открыта в полном объёме.
• 26 августа 2013 года — открыта развязка с правительственной трассой «Пулково — КАД» .
• 16 декабря 2013 года — модернизирована развязка в Бронке, к ней подключен ММПК «Бронка» .

В 2016—2022 годах планируется:

• расширить участок между Приморским шоссе (Горская) и проспектом Энгельса — Новоприозерским шоссе (Парнас) с четырёх до шести полос движения — по три в каждую сторону ^[16] ;
• Обустроить развязку со строящейся автомагистралью М11 «Москва — Санкт-Петербург».
• Построить развязку с Гражданским проспектом и его продолжению в Западное Мурино
• Реконструировать развязку с продолжением улицы Пионерстроя
• Построить развязку и съезд в Кудрово
• Модернизировать развязку с Рябовским шоссе
• Построить развязку с будущим Восточным Скоростным Диаметром
