Campus
The college campus is located in the picturesque rural area of the Ardennes mountains , in the Krishna community of Radhadesh . Radhadesh is one of the largest ISKCON centers in Europe, [1] and at the same time one of the tourist attractions of Belgium, which is visited by several tens of thousands of tourists every year. [3]
History
Bhaktivedanta College was founded in 2002 [4] with the assistance of the Ministry of Education Development of ISKCON, which aimed at creating a Vaishnava higher educational institution that would provide for the needs of ISKCON. In partnership with the University of Wales at Lampeter, the college developed a bachelor's program in theology, becoming the first accredited ISKCON institution of higher learning. [4] In 2010, the University of Wales was reorganized, after which the college began working in partnership with the University of Chester.
Mission
The mission of Bhaktivedanta College is to train Vaisnava preachers, theologians, teachers, scholars, and spiritual leaders. [3] [5] [1] [3] [6]
Programs
At the end of a three-year training course, college graduates are awarded a bachelor's degree in one of two specialties: “Theology and Religious Studies” or “Pedagogy, Theology and Religion”. [1] [2] [7] [1] [7] [3]
Rector
The rector of Bhaktivedanta College since its foundation is Yadunandana Swami. [8] He is from Catalonia and is a student of Satsvarupa Dasa Goswami . [9] [10] At one time he served as ISKCON's regional secretary (vice president) in Spain.
