Romanian identity card ( rum. Carte de identitate ) - a document that is issued to citizens of Romania residing on its territory. For the first time issued to citizens who are 14 years old. To obtain it, you must confirm your identity, place of residence in Romania and Romanian citizenship.

The validity period of a Romanian identity card is:

  • 4 years for persons aged 14-18 years;
  • 7 years for persons aged 18-25 years;
  • 10 years for persons over 25 years old;
  • permanent after performance 55 years.

From January 1, 2007 it can be used for travel within the European Union.

  • A series of two letters and a six-digit number of an identity card (changes each time in case of exchange of identity card);
  • CNP ( rum. Cod Numeric Personal - rus. Personal numerical code ) a single and unchangeable code for each person;
  • Name (ena);
  • Surname;
  • Floor;
  • Names of parents (not indicated after May 11, 2009);
  • Place of Birth;
  • Address of residence;
  • Who issued it;
  • Validity (date of issue (DD.MM.YY) and expiration date (DD.MM.YY));
  • Automatic zone for reading optical characters.
