Biography
In 1902 he was ordained a priest. From 1904 to 1921 he served in the parish of the city of . He published the periodical "The Most Holy Face". In 1920, he founded the Brotherhood of the Most Holy Face movement.
February 2, 1921 was transferred to the parish of the city of Candelaria . Especially honored the Holy Eucharist and the Blessed Virgin Mary . He conducted active pastoral activities, engaged in catechesis , teaching activities with children and youth. From 1921 to 1950, he was a confessor in various monastic congregations, chaplain in hospitals and spiritual father in a seminary . In 1934, he founded the women's monastic congregation “Daughters of St. Veronica, missionaries of the Holy Face”, whose activity was unceasing prayer , catechesis, assistance to children, priests and the elderly. On March 25, 1958, the Charter of the Congregation was approved at the level of diocesan law.

On May 4, 1997, Gayetano Catanoso was canonized by Pope John Paul II ; on October 23, 2005, he was canonized by Pope Benedict XVI on St. Peter's Square in Rome, during the end of the Church Year of the Eucharist.
