History

The history of the theater began in February 1985, when a group of artists of the State Russian Music and Drama Theater of the Karelian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic showed a performance in the Petrozavodsk House of the actor based on the novel by Boris Vasilyev “There was a war tomorrow”.

The official opening of the State Youth Theater “Creative Workshop” took place on November 16, 1988 with the premiere of the play based on Chingiz Aitmatov ’s novel “Scaffold” (chief director of the tetra I. P. Petrov ).

In the creation of the theater took an active part: M. Ulyanov, V. Urin, V. Maltsev, K. Baranov, M. Eskin, M. Neronsky, Yu. Kosareva, G. P. Strugach, O. Belonuchkin , E. Bychkova , L Alive , G. Sitko , G. Zalogin .

Since 2010 - the budgetary institution "Drama Theater of the Republic of Karelia" Creative Workshop " .

Over the years, more than 95 performances of various genres have been released.

The theater toured in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Minsk, Kiev, Odessa, Rostov-on-Don, Daugavpils, Finland, Germany. Laureate and participant of theater festivals in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Brest (Belarus), Nizhny Novgorod, Petrozavodsk. The main prize winner of the Onega Mask Republican Theater Competition (1998, 2001, 2004).

Demonstrates about 200 performances per year. It is focused on creating a lively psychological theater in tune with the modern audience.

In March 2011, the first performance of the theater’s youth studio, “ULTIMO café”, was premiered.

The theater team was awarded the Sampo Prize (2015) for the creation of the play “About My Mother and About Me”. [2]
