Content
History
The club was established in 1924, by the merger of two clubs in the city of Sint-Truiden - FC Union and FC Goldstar . The team colors were chosen blue and yellow, corresponding to the colors of the flag of the city. From this comes the nickname of the team - the "canary".
In 1951, the club received the title of “royal”. In 1957 he first entered the top division of the championship of Belgium. In 1959-66, the team was coached by Raymond Gutals , who later became the head coach of the Belgian national team , and also won the first UEFA Champions League draw in 1993 with Marseille from Marseille . Under his leadership, the club achieved its highest achievement in the Belgian championship, taking second place in the 1965/66 season .
