Distribution and habitat
In the wild, the species is common in the Brazilian ecoregions of Serrada and Pantanal , and is also found in the north of Argentina . In these countries, the tree is used as a honey plant or ornamental plant in settlements [1]
Botanical Description
The height of the trees reaches 7–16 m, and the trunk diameter is 40–50 cm.
The species blooms in August - October, during flowering there are no leaves on the tree. Each flower blooms for only a few days.
The fruits ripen in October, the seeds are small, in a kilogram - about 70 thousand pieces [2] .
Economic Significance and Application
The wood of the tree ( IPE ) is strong, well preserved, used in construction .
