Ivan Ivanovich Kozlov ( March 26, 1716 - June 18, 1788 ) - Actual Privy Councilor (from 11.24.1784), General Retsmaster (1762), Senator . The son of General I.F. Kozlov , the grandfather of the poet I.I. Kozlov .

Biography
Came from the noble family of the Kozlovs . He began his service on August 28, 1733 - as a soldier of the Life Guards of the Izmailovsky Regiment ; then the fourier (1734); captenarmus (1738); sergeant (1738); auditor (03/05/1739); second lieutenant (1740). Participated in hostilities against the Swedes . In 1742, he retired from military service with the rank of prime minister.
In the period 1744-1749 he was governor in Orel . In the 1750s, he was a member of the commission for the construction of the palace in Moscow, a member of the Justits College , the Main Land Survey Office (1755). In 1760 he was promoted to state councilor and appointed chief secretary of the Senate .
It was renamed general reetmeister on January 9, 1762. By decree of Catherine II of January 21, 1763, the re-general-master Kozlov was given the right to announce her decrees to senators. Kozlov actively worked as part of the " Commission for the compilation of a new code ." At the end of April 1767, Catherine II left Moscow, giving him the order:
| Ivan Ivanovich! During my absence from here, continue to often go to colleges, so that those orders do not fall into decay, which we, thank God, have hardly started [1] . |
In the autumn of the same year (September 22) he was promoted to Privy Councilor . Appointed to the Governing Senate on July 9, 1768. The marble tombstone of Senator Kozlov , commissioned by his son Ivan, was preserved by the sculptor G.T. Zamaraev in the Donskoy Monastery .

Family
Married to Anna Ivanovna (d. 08.22.1774) had children:
- Martha (1741-1804), married to a general from infantry I. I. Arbenev ; playwright Knyazhnin and poet Derzhavin were often in her house in St. Petersburg on Malaya Morskaya [2] .
- Ivan (1748-1808), real state adviser, father of the blind poet I.I. Kozlov .
- Anna , married to Prince M.P. Golitsyn , died in childbirth [3] .
- Faith (d. 3.12.1786), is buried in the Donskoy monastery.
