At a psychiatrist's appointment, Brian recalls that he was born in a dog kennel ( puppy mill ), and the circumstances in which he broke up with his mother.

To break the bout, Brian volunteers to pick up Stewie from his grandparents from Palm Springs , California .

Brian gets drunk a lot at the airport bar, and Stewie loses tickets, so they find a haven in a cheap motel. Stewie is trying to call home, but he incorrectly remembered his phone number.

In the middle of the night, Stewie wakes up because a gang meeting is taking place in the next room. Annoyed, Stewie screams “There is a bug on him!” , Because of which the shoot-out begins, and Stewie calmly falls asleep. The next day, friends have to run away, stealing a car, as their credit card is blocked. Stewie and Brian pretend to be pilots to steal a plane from the farmer, which they immediately break. Getting to Quahog hitchhiking, comrades pass by the very nursery where Brian was born in Austin , Texas . When they visit, they discover that they made a scarecrow out of Brian's mother and use it as a table. With the help of Stewie, Brian buries his mother’s corpse in a nearby park. In the end, they go home by train. Brian thanks Stewie for his support during the trip, and yielding to the moment, they sing a musical duet song “Off On the Road to Rhode Island”.

In the meantime, Lois convinces Peter to look at her video tape with a family counselor, which turns out to be pornography involving Dr. Amanda Rebecca, where she asks the women to leave the room and then undresses. To Lois's surprise, Peter is drawn into watching these films and then she writes herself in black underwear on top of the third tape to seduce Peter. But during the kiss, Peter unwinds the film back and forth, playing the scene of undressing his wife.

Upon returning home, Brian thanks Stewie for not telling Lois about their adventures, offering any service in gratitude. The kid reminds him of an episode from The Brady Family , where Greg becomes Bobby's servant, but in the end only asks Brian to record this episode for him on video.

• In the episode there is a scene with the participation of Osama bin Laden , later deleted. Now it is available only when watching on DVD.
• This episode is the first in which the joint journeys of Brian and Stewie are shown as the main characters. The following will be Road to Europe , Road to Rupert , Road to Germany , Road to the Multiverse , Road to the North Pole and Roads to Vegas . All of these titles are parodies of a series of seven comedy films "The Road to ..." ( 1940 - 1962 ) with the participation of Bob Hope and Bing Crosby .
• The title of the episode plays up to the homophonicity of the English words “road” (pronounced “road”) - “road” and “Rhode Island” (pronounced “road oud”) - Rhode Island.
