M-4 "Osa-M" [1] ( GRAU index - 4K33 , according to NATO classification : SA-N-4 Gecko (" Gecko ")) - Russian automated military ship two - frame anti - aircraft missile system , a marine version of the Osa air defense system. Designed according to unified tactical and technical requirements and there are no significant differences in their design. The Osa-M air defense system is fully unified with the Osa military system in terms of 9M33 missile and 70% in control systems, but it has only two missiles ready for launch, versus four (and later six) in the land version.

The OSA-M air defense system and its modifications can be installed on ships with a displacement of 500 tons or more. It is included in the armament of the BOD of project 1134B , TFR of projects 1135 , 1135-1, 1139, aircraft carrying cruisers of project 1143 , nuclear cruisers of project 1144 (class "Orlan"), cruisers of project 1164 (class "Atlant"), BDK project 1174 , RTO project 1234 , IPC project 1124 , light cruisers projects 68-U1 ( Zhdanov ) and 68-U2 ( Senyavin ) [2] .

Modifications
- Osa-M - the basic version of the ship complex. Adopted in 1971 , at the same time as the Osa military air defense system.
- Osa-MA is a modification of Osa-M, created in 1975 and tested on a small anti-submarine ship, pr. 1124 (MPK-147) in the Black Sea . The complex was adopted in 1979 . Its characteristics ensured the defeat of low-flying targets at an altitude of 25-60 m above sea level.
- Osa-MA-2 - A modification of Osa-MA was created in the first half of the 1980s and is a further development of this complex. Osa-MA-2 has increased firing efficiency at low-flying anti - ship missiles and ensures their defeat at a height of 5 meters above the crest of the waves.
