Country of Freaks

The guy Sean Brumder was surfing and found in the sand, on the beach, a copy of the novel by cult author Marcus Skinner, who now teaches at Stanford University . The novel has a great influence on Sean. The young man decides that he should become a writer, and sends his first story "Orange County" to Skinner. But his dreams of going to university, studying under Skinner’s guidance collapse when, by mistake, instead of Sean's documents, documents of a bad student are sent there. With the help of drug addict brother Lance and his girlfriend Ashley Shawn, she is trying to convince the school authorities to reconsider his statement.

The day is going well. In the end, Lance carelessly makes a fire at the university office, and the building dies in a fire. Ashley loses interest in Sean. It would seem that everything is falling apart. However, in the evening, frustrated Sean accidentally meets his idol Marcus Skinner on the street. The writer tells Sean that he received a manuscript from him and he liked the story very much. The next morning it turns out that the parents of Sean and Lance, who were divorced, suddenly came together again. To celebrate, Sean's father promised to restore the burned-out building of the university office. Ashley returns to Sean. Everything turns out to be not so bad.

Film critic Sergei Kudryavtsev in his book " 3500 movie permissions " writes about the film:
