Itsudatte My Santa! ( Jap. い つ だ っ て My サ ン タ Itsudatte may santa ) is the manga of Ken Akamatsu . On December 7, 2005 , a two-part OVA was released on the manga.

Story
In the story, a girl named May appears in front of a boy who began to hate Christmas, since he was born on December 24 and was named Santa. This makes him angry because he never had a birthday party. With the power of Santa Claus, May decides to help him.

Protagonists
Santa ( 参 太 太 ) is a lonely boy who hates Christmas because his birthday is on Christmas Eve . Because of his birth date, he is called Santa. He is often teased for this strange name. While he was growing up, his parents were never near him. His view of Christmas changes when he meets May.
- Seiyu : Jun Kamei
May ( マ イ May ) is a student at the Santa Claus Academy. She has problems using magic, since she can only conjure items whose name begins with “San” ( Japanese サ ン San ) in Japanese. She was sent to San-chan to encourage him, but ultimately she falls in love with him. Appears in the image of a middle school student. Later, when San-chan begins to believe in Santa Claus, May receives enough Christmas power to return to his adult form.

Minor Characters
Maymai ( マ イ マ イ Maymay ) is the younger sister of May, who arrived to live with May. She follows her older sister everywhere. Bites anyone who interferes with her or her sister.

Shirley ( シ ャ リ ー Syari:) - May's best friend and rival. Unlike May, she is an elite at the Santa Claus Academy. Shirley says “Gorgeous” whenever she uses magic that can make any objects grow to very large sizes.

Noel ( ノ エ ル Noeru ) is a teacher at the Santa Claus Academy. I persuaded Mai to return home to continue her studies.

Manga
The manga consists of one chapter and was serialized in the 4th and 5th issues of the Weekly Shonen Magazine for 1998.
Anime
In the first episode, the plot follows the manga, and in the second episode of OVA, a new story. On January 25, 2007, OVA was licensed in the USA by FUNimation , [1] and the release in the US was scheduled for December 11, 2007. However, the discs were withdrawn from sale after discovering that they accidentally indicated an underestimated age rating (TV-PG instead of TV-MA). FUNimation has announced that it plans to re-release for the holiday season of 2008. [2]

Differences between Manga and Anime
- The manga only tells the story of Christmas when Santa meets May. Anime adds a second episode with a new story.
- In the anime, many new characters were introduced (Shirley, Maimai, and Noel), in the manga - only two, Santa and May.
