Ekaterina Shipulina (born November 14, 1979 , Perm ) is a Russian ballet dancer , prima ballerina of the Bolshoi Theater . People's Artist of the Russian Federation ( 2018 ) [1] .

She was born on November 14, 1979 in Perm in the family of ballet dancers: her mother, Lyudmila Shipulina , was a ballerina of the Perm Theater. P.I. Tchaikovsky .
In 1989-1994 she studied at the Perm Choreographic School , in 1994 she was transferred to the Moscow Choreographic School . Graduated in the class of teacher Lyudmila Litavkina . After graduation in 1998, she was accepted into the ballet troupe of the Bolshoi Theater [2] . At first she studied at the theater under the guidance of tutors Marina Kondratieva and Tatyana Golikova , then she began to rehearse under the direction of Nadezhda Gracheva .
On March 26, 2018, by a decree of the President of Russia, he was awarded the title of People’s Artist of the Russian Federation with the wording “For great merits in the field of theater and musical art” [1] .
Personal life
Catherine has a sister, Anna. The wife of the ballerina is pianist Denis Matsuev [3] . October 31, 2016 the couple had a daughter, Anna [4] [5] .
