Typical design of a two-tier one-vault interchange station

A two-story transfer station single-winged station is a type of metro station located at great depths . It carries out the reception of trains of two lines on four tracks with a change between the lines in a single structural volume.

In cross section, its design consists of a precast reinforced concrete multi-hinged arch, supported by massive supports inside round tunnels of large diameter. In the lower part of the section, a reverse arch is constructed, which serves simultaneously as a spacer for the side supports. Station halls are divided by interfloor overlapping, based on a system of girders and columns. The structural part is based on the experience of building single-vault stations with precast concrete arches, compressed into the rock.

The idea of a combined two-tier interchange node was not born by chance. Firstly, such a solution significantly increases the node's throughput and reduces the time for transplantation, including for passengers traveling in the opposite direction. Secondly, this design eliminates the need for connecting corridors, usually arranged between separate stations of the interchange node. The design of the unit combines all the advantages of single-vault deep-laying stations , which can significantly reduce its impact on the natural massif. Due to the compact design, the unit occupies a minimum of underground space, the cost of its maintenance is also minimal. All this indicates the high efficiency of the solution.

Currently, only one station of this type has been built in the CIS - Sportivnaya in St. Petersburg (opened September 15, 1997 ). It is currently not used as a transfer; trains arrive at two of the four tracks. The station is designed for the future development of the metro , taking into account the long-term use of only one of its half.
